Within the ranks of these men, a diverse mix of seasoned, veteran cutters existed; many with an entrepreneurial spirit looking to do what they loved and seeking to earn a good living for their family.

These veterans led crews of  young men across the country, offering mentorship, life lessons, and guidance, molding these boys into hardworking individuals, and building what would become life-long friendships.

These were the young men − some as green as can be − that came from all over the country as well as from countries abroad, looking to work through the grueling summers.

Together, they weathered the trials of the harvest, unified by a common purpose and fortified by the spirit of camaraderie that defined their journey.

They became a tight-knit brotherhood.

The real heroes that kept the operations going; flying under the radar and often overlooked in the telling of their stories, are the wives and daughters. These women kept the men fed, ensuring that three hearty meals were served daily, keeping bodies strong and ready for the next day’s labor.

Their unwavering support and tireless efforts cannot be overstated.
